Later, I contemplated moving to Mumbai to continue my modeling and acting career; however, I figured that my heart lies in Hyderabad. This is my home and no matter where I go, I’ll still be an outsider in that city. Deep down in my heart, I knew that I would be happier if I get recognition here in Hyderabad,” Vasudev confesses.

In 2007, he was approached to play one of the lead roles in a TV serial, Yuva, which was produced by Nagarjuna, and there has been no looking back since. “That series was a game changer in a lot of ways. Back then, most TV serials were targeted at female audience and Yuva came like a breath of fresh air for everyone. It was funny and way ahead of its time. It did take some time for people to get used to the tone of the serial, but I feel all of us made a big difference back then,' says the actor.

While he played the role of a junior artiste, who aspires to become a big star in Yuva, he received good reviews for his performance as a tough cop in. “In another show,, I played the role of a kind-hearted factionist from Kadapa (laughs). The TV industry has grown by leaps and bounds over the last few years and people recognise us instantly. There was a time when people were obsessed only about movie stars but today, even TV actors are equally popular,” he avers. Ask him about the change TV serials have gone through over the years and he says, “I feel people’s taste has changed a lot. Nowadays, people watch plenty of dubbed serials, which are made on a lavish scale, and because of this, there’s lot more pressure on local TV channels and production houses to improve the quality of shows. Besides, TV channels are spending a lot on promoting their content, which is good.'

The actor is currently basking in the glory of the buzz surrounding his latest serial, Rama Seetha, where he plays the role of a husband whose obsessive love for his wife comes in the way of the relationship. “I guess every actor dreams of doing a role like that. It’s the first time I've played a lead role with negative shades and the response from the audience has been fabulous.

Apart from the TV serials, I am also planning to get back to doing good character roles in films. Quite frankly, I really want people to talk more about my acting than my looks,” he signs off.
